Dave Davies interviews legal scholar Michelle Alexander, author of the book, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness. Alexander argues that many of the gains of the civil rights movement have been lost to the War on Drugs. African Americans, especially in cities, face a literal war waged in the name of fighting the evils of drugs.

Consider the findings of the Global Commission on Drugs http://www.globalcommissionondrugs.org/ from this summer, stating that the global war on drugs has been an epic failure (article).

And think about why our government ignores this and refuses to change. And don’t blame Obama, I said think about it. This carries on, since Nixon, in every administration, Republican and Democrat.

This failed war must end.
